Queen Bee Market

I had an awesome blogger date this weekend with Kara at Ramblings of a Marine Wife.

We met up at the Queen Bee Market. I didn't really know much about it going in, but have some grownup time out of the house, sounded like a great time.  Kara and I actually spent more time talking afterwards than we did shopping, it was so nice to meet her and chat, she is just as nice in real life as she is online. I am looking forward to meeting up again.
But... back to the market.
There was lots of cool things, antique furniture, Christmas ornaments, hand made bags and jewelry. Lots of great stuff. But I made out with hair accessories, for me and Evey.

First the bows, they are mostly for me but I can share them if Evey can not destroy them with dirty little fingers.
I recognized the Hello Kitty one right away. A bow with Hello Kitty bows on it? YES PLEASE!
A Little Delight had some of the cutest bows, and other hair ties. Very cute stuff.

Next up we have Bacon and Eggs. Seriously so cute. Also Bacon is one of Evey's new words (and favorite foods), so of course I had to get her one.
The Bacon and Eggs clips are from SoCutie. And they are So Cute!

Last but not least we have the Jellyfish.
Holy Moley Jellyfish is the cutest ever.

It also has a little bit of Velcro inside that helps keep it in the babies hair. This is genius. It makes it difficult for the baby to pull the clip out.
Jellyfish is made by Shining Stars Boutique

Please ignore dirty baby face. I didn't want to fight with her. She's still cute.
We love all of our new hair clips. And we really hope the dog doesn't eat them.

QBM
Sadly I guess this is the last QBM that will be held, but you can check out all of the vendors on the page, if you are looking for local vendors in So Cal, they are all listed on the vendor page. Lots of cool stuff.

*this is not a sponsored post, I purchased all of the items shown*

Saving money with home hair cuts (or why sundays is my least favorite day)

I usually don't tell people I cut my husbands hair. If I happen to give him a bad cut I don't want people to know it was me. And after 6 years of cutting his hair, it happens every now and then, he gets a not so great cut.
When we got married he was spending almost $20 a week to get his hair cut. Being in the Marines, weekly haircuts are just a fact of life.
Shortly after we got married I got a pair of clippers, they came with an instructional video which I watched over and over again and then I started to cut his hair. I don't even want to think about how bad they were in the beginning, because even now sometimes they are less than stellar, that first year must have been rough on him. But after all this time I have never done such a bad job that we had to shave it. And I think I have the fade down pretty good.
But I still hate it, and I dream about just sending him to the barber on sundays so I don't have to do it. I secretly don't mention that it's haircut day in hopes he will forget, and just have to get it cut at the barber some time monday. But almost every sunday, at about 1 pm, I cut his hair. Taking into account deployments, other time apart and times that I did just send him to the barber, we have saved about $4,000 with me just cutting his hair. We take really good care of our clippers, and every few years I buy a nice new pair (that was before I learned you could get replacement blades) the last set I bought are really super nice and I hope will last us for a very long time.
So if you husband trusts you enough to let you try to cut his hair, I highly recommend it. Get a good video, check out YouTube, invest in a nice pair of clippers and have fun!
It's just hair! It'll grow back!

Let's be honest

I haven't been writing much, I struggle each week to get Evey's weekly posts done, I don't have a whole lot else going on, besides her right now. I keep telling myself that her weekly posts are going to be like a baby book, I am going to get them published after I get through the first year, so I need to keep it up. But besides her, and my new Beachbody adventure I don't have much else to say.

I am in a bit of a funk, I am a bit down that we are stuck here another winter.  We will still be headed to Camp Pendleton, just not until April. Deep down part of me really hoped that extending would send us to Okinawa, even though I knew the chances were incredibly slim. But we will be in the sunshine state, so I can't complain too much. It's starting to get pretty cold here, it's in the 20's every morning, frost on everything. This week it has warmed up in the afternoon, but it's still sweater required. I find myself extra tired with the cooler temps, my anxiety has begun to return too. I get anxious when I am away from the house for too long. But I managed to get myself out and get my hair done, I've been wanting to go blonde again for months, but didn't want to spend the money, didn't want to be away from the baby for 3+ hours, excuses, excuses. Once we found out we would be here for the Marine Corps ball in. November, I decided to get my hair done, for me, because I deserve it.
Two days and one allergic reaction later I am blonde:
The pink is just hair chalk, and there is a bit of pink toner in it to soften the blond, it'll fade in a few days. It was a bit scary though... So I have been seeing this hairdresser for a few months, but she has never colored my hair, so when I was sitting in the chair, after the bleach had been rinsed and toner had been applied, I started to itch in my hands I thought "gee that's weird" assuming it was anxiety because I had been away from baby for almost 2.5 hours now. Then my back started to itch, then my stomach, and my feet. I went to the bathroom and lifted my shirt everywhere I had clothing tight on my body (bra, waist of my pants) was hived and red, then I noticed my face was getting red and puffy. We rinsed the toner from my hair and almost instantly I started to feel better. I was mostly cleared up by the time I got home about 20 min later but still took Benadryl, then proceeded to almost fall asleep in my dinner, but I was hive free! I went back two days later and she finished, using another stylists toner, and all was well. And I am blond again, I feel younger, and more confident.
I have been working out just about daily, we take a few days off here and there, but I really need to step up the diet portion of working out. It really plays huge part in weight loss, and I know that. I'm not eating like a piglet, but I'm not eating great either.

Hair

I had a dream the other night that my hair started to grow really fast. I was super excited until I realized it was only growing in the back, mullet style.
I have sported many hair styles in the last 6 years.
Lets revisit a few, shall we?

Early 2007, We lived in Mass.
The longest it's ever been. EVER.

Then I chopped it all off.

Once in Okinawa I let it grow, this is about mid 2008

At the end of 2008 I cut it off, This is a turning point in my hair adventure. I found a stylist I adored, and I trusted, So I pretty much let her do what she wanted to my hair.

Early 2009, shorter with some layers.

Then I started to really have fun with it.
I think this is one of my favorite cuts.
Mid 2009

A little shorter
2009

So cute! I was also about 20 pounds lighter here.

Then I went too short...
end summer of 2009

Way too short.
End of summer 2009

But I had a cute fauxhawk for about 30 min

Then I started a new adventure in sept 2009
An adventure in bleaching.

I also started letting it grow.

And bleached it some more.
(real butterfly)
early 2010

Then I made the leap into unnatural colors!
 2010

Pink!

Super Pink

Just a little pink
fall 2010

There has never been a pinker pink.

Our last night in Okinawa Nov. 2010
And my last pink.

Then I went dark again
So I could get a job and be responsible.

Found a hairdresser I liked and started going lighter!

Super blonde!
And growing it out.

then short and brown again.

And here we are a few weeks ago, growing it out, with bangs.

Clearly, my hair cycle is grow it a bit and chop it all off again. I can't seem to get it past my chin.

I am thinking about cutting it again.

I love short hair, but I long for long hair. I sort of think short hair will be easier 'mom' hair, then I think "will it? really?" short hair involves blow drying every day, and tons of product. I can never just get up and go. With longer hair I can pony tail it and just go.
I do miss the pony tail.
But the whole reason I cut my hair the first time, is because all I ever did was a pony, I never had fun with my hair. And short hair is SO MUCH FUN!

I don't know what to do?!?!?!
So tell me, Cut it or grow it?
What do you think?
Vote and leave me some words of wisdom.

Hair

Well it's that time again. Time to make some major changes in my hair.
This is where I am now:
Just me #nofilter

It's time to go short again. Like super short.
It's been over bleached and is breaking really bad on the crown of my head and is getting to the point where it's noticeable.
So after Valentines day I'm gonna cut it all off again.
I am also going to stop bleaching it for a while.

I've been looking at pictures for color and length ideas.
Here are a few I have come up with:

I love these bangs:

I love Agynees' hair:

I also love Carrie Mulligans cut and color, unfortunately my hair is stick straight:

Michelle Williams
I just wish my bangs would do that side swoopy thing, I can never get it right:

Victoria Beckham:
I love the color and the way it's not on the neck, my hair drives me crazy when it's on my neck.

I love this choppy straightness:

I have about a month to figure out what I want to do. I am very excited. I do miss my short hair.
