Typhoon Tuesday

21 days ago we had a weak ass tropical storm roll through. Today we have a typhoon.

Typhoon Kompasu is blowing through as I type. Right at the top of hte storm if you look close you can see some green, that's land, that's Okinawa.

This one is better, but it's just wind speeds I think. This one is current as of 45 min ago I think.

My pictures don't show much. But the morning started out gorgeous and partly sunny, but now it's completely cloudy and grey, and pouring rain.

I need to do a real update, I've got some stuff going on. I'll try to type it up today or tomorrow.

Today was a day

This morning Paul left for San Diego for Recruiters School. It was a long day, he almost missed his flight. Then I ran a lot of errands because we have a typhoon coming. Yeah, first typhoon ever and Paul leaves the day before it hits. So i've spent the evening drinking bloody mary's and watching Rom-Com's.

I'm a quitter.

It hasn't even been a week and I'm already giving up on the low carb thing. It just isn't for me. I've tried it before and it's hard for someone who love starchy carbs like I do. I live for sammiches and potatoes, I love Mac and Cheese and pasta. Pizza is my favorite take out. It's just too hard for me. I feel like crap because I am stuck in a low-carb fog.
I am going to continue to watch my carbs, and keep them in check, but I am not going to restrict myself to the point I have been, and make myself cry because I can't have pizza because I am already too fat. I know it's not all calories in calories out in weight loss, but that's a fair part of it. My plan is to exercise (or at least walk) every day. EVERY DAY! and keep my calories low, carbs in check, protein high and sugars (besides fruit) low. No Mt. Dew! No Cokes! No Cherry Pepsi! except one and a while. I also need to curb my beer/wine drinking. Lately I havn't been drinking a lot, but I've been drinking often, and once a week or so I'll over do it. Cool thing I did learn with low carb is my hangover which I get from just smelling wine, has been missing. But it's not an even trade off, I'll live with the occasional hangover if I can have bread.

Monday Paul and I tried to start Primal blueprint but I broke and we had sushi and rice for dinner. Officially we started Tuesday. Today is day 3 and I feel sort of shitty (see second to last link) but I am down 3.7 pounds.

These are the links that I found most helpful, They make the most sense to me in this order:

Pictures and Update

Not too much going on here, The dogs are doing good.
Renji and Aiko, still love each other (most of the time)

Okinawa has elephant shaped clouds

And really pretty regular clouds

Sunabe Gyro, has the best Gyros this side of Greece

And Paul and I have started a new diet. Primal Blueprint, I'll post more about it later, it's so far way better than Atkins. So far (3 days) I've not seen too much progress but we'll see.
So part of the new me, I was riding my bike Monday, and I stopped to try to meditate (per doctors orders) though meditation failed miserably, I did see a cute snail giving another cute snail a piggy back ride.

A bit of me (friday)

{one} how would you describe your style?
Jeans and a tee shirt, all they way. I wear tank-tops a lot and flip flops. Shorts every day I can. Living in Okinawa, those days are frequent. I'm very laid back. As much as I love dressing up, for me putting on tinted moisturizer is a big deal.

{two} what would your perfect day look like?
Early morning hike in the woods, like Yellowstone. Afternoon picnic lunch on the forrest floor with Paul and maybe my family. Dinner at the campfire with everyone I love. And a night under the stars.

{three} what would be the best workplace perk?
I get naps.

{four} if you could have the starring role in one movie, which would it be?
Something that films on location, Roman Holiday would be cool, but I'd want to be Audrey Hepburn

{five} what tv show do you wish would go off the air for good?
Reality Shows, except the cool nature ones. Survivor is not in that category, it can go, Amazing Race, it can stay.

{six} chocolate or vanilla?
Vanilla!

{seven} if you could date any celebrity, who would it be?
So many to choose from! I think Brad Pitt cleanly shaven is my choice.

{eight} if you could have been the author of any book, which would it have been?
7 Habits of Highly Effective People, I bet that guy is pretty well off, and highly effective. I've been feeling like a bump on a log lately.

{nine} what's your favorite type of flower?
Hibiscus.

{ten} what do you think is your most attractive feature?
I have a nice rack.

Tropical Storm Tuesday

My pictures suck, I don't know why I didn't take a movie, but if you look at the trees in the background you can see them swaying. We had a visit yesterday/today from Tropical Storm Dianmu. The wind was so insane it took a little blue baby (d0ggie) pool from my back yard and it's gone, I searched for it today, it's gone. The wind was shaking the house like a trailer in a tornado. It was some scary shiz last night. and the rain, torrential downpour, crazy!

Another thing I want

I WANT CENTRAL HEATING & COOLING!

Currently we have these silly little wall units. My living room/kitchen/entryway (the entire down stairs) is an open floor plan, so the ENTIRE bottom floor, with the exception of a small bathroom and laundry closet are one room, it's at least 250 sq feet. This little unit does not efficiently cool on a hot day. My upstairs bedroom, has an even crappier version of this same wall unit but it does not have heat. So for the two months that is is cold as balls here I am freezing, also that unit does not effectively cool my 100 sq ft bedroom with like 20 ft tall vaulted ceilings. Currently it's like 90 degrees daily with 9000% humidity so the heat index is like 700 degrees. and AC's suck.

Thrown for a loop again

Well Paul may not be leaving at the end of this month, hopefully we will know by the end of the week. There is a career course that Paul needs to get promoted and if he doesn't get that course before he leaves he may not get it at all, so he may not get promoted. So right now (again) we are in limbo.

What I want in our next home (kitchen cont.)

This time I'll show you what I have, and what I want what I don't like.
You can find post number 1 HERE

This would be sweet!

My fridge is a tiny, little itty bitty, small apartment size fridge.

The ugly yellow cabinets I mentioned before. And my stupid electric stove.

bright! and barely any storage for me the girl who has everything.

These would be way way cooler!
and everyone should have a gas stove.

I want a dishwasher, doing dishes by hand is stupid.

I'm partial to stainless steel appliances.

but incase of emergency when hand wash is necessary (like punishing children) I want two ssinks, two side by side sinks.

as you can see I've managed, thanks to my mom and a lesson I learned camping. While a young dishes doer on camping trips I learned that dishes can be done in plastic tubs bought at the store.
