Wordless Wednesday

We kennel the dogs when we leave the house, Renji eats everything, and Aiko sometimes has accidents (plus it's not fair to just kennel one.) So we came home the other night and found this.
Apparently we weren't paying attention when we called the dogs into the kennel, and Taco the cat was asleep in there, which he does on occasion.

You can tell by the look in Renji's eyes, he is just pleading to be released. "oh mommy, please let us out, this has been really scary"

They don't really fight, the dogs and the cat, but they have a tendency to terrorize each other. Taco is certainly the alpha.  So I am sure the dogs spent the whole evening on their half, while Taco just laid there mean-muggin them.

Taco on Instagram

Taco is feeling a little under the weather. I may need to call the vet tomorrow, he's been a sneezing machine.

Picture of the day: A story of Taco

A long long time ago, in a far away land called Chicopee, there was a girl and a boy. The girl worked in a convenience store and one day one of her co-workers told her about a cat, the cat had a problem, it had gotten knocked up. The coworker could no longer care for the cat who had adopted the coworkers home, and was giving her to a rescue after the kittens were born.

The day the the coworker brought the kittens and the mama cat to work on their way to the rescue and the girl (alana) met the cat. It was love at first purr. She called her boy and told him about the cat and they agreed that once the cat was old enough to leave his mom they could adopt him.

After months and weeks of waiting they were able to adopt the cat. They brought him home one cold winter afternoon and he began his new life as Taco McCawley. Taco was a silly cat and loved to curl up on his dads neck as they played video games. Soon Taco learned that he would be traveling internationally, his family was moving to Japan! This meant that Taco would have to go to the vet several times for lots of tests to make sure he was healthy. Then one cold winter day his family began the cross country trek to Seattle to catch the flight to Japan.

The flight wasn't too bad, but having to live in a kennel until his parents found a home was no fun. As soon as he moved into his new home things were fantastic. Shortly after the move Taco got a sister Aiko, and about a year later he got a brother Renji, they are of a different kind, smaller and not as agile as him, but still furry. After three years in Japan, It was time for Taco and his family to move back to America, which meant more vet visits, but not too many shots this time.

Arrival in Montana was cold, and living in a hotel was no fun, but soon Taco and his family found a big home with stairs and lots of windows to sleep in. And that brings us to today. Taco is enjoying his new home and his cat tower by the window. He is a big happy cat, and can not wait for more adventure.

Picture of the day: Lazy Cat

While Paul and I have been working our asses off unpacking, Taco offered little help.

Because yesterday we did nothing, except keep the couch warm and go pick up pizza, we were required today to do lots. And we have made major headway, the upstairs is almost all unpacked except clothes, which we have way too much of, and some office stuff.

Goodbye Home.

Oh noes! I missed two days!
We'll it's not a failure in my book, I've just been BANANAS busy. Yesterday was spent all day moving. The internet was shut off early and we spent the whole day dealing with movers, and running minor errands. Last night we checked into our temporary housing, it's non-military and it looks like a little apartment, I'll post pictures tomorrow, if I can find my camera cable. Today we did all the cat and dog stuff, got all of our health certificates, checked in the quarantine office in Naha at the airport, and also sold the Prelude. Tomorrow I may get to sleep in, hopefully. I am exhausted. But things are running fairly smooth.

at the vet with the monsters

Today's vet stuff went very unexpected. Of all the animals to have a reaction, Taco did. Vaccines were given at about 1030 am, we were home by 1130 fixing to take Renji up for his sick appt at 130, well at about 1220 Taco made this terrible noise, sounded like he was in great pain, I jumped up just in time to see him begin to violently vomit all over the kitchen floor. I called the vet and was told to bring him back in, so we packed up Renji and Taco and we rushed up there. Taco is fine, they think it was stress induced vomiting, he got a shot just incase it was allergies and a anti-vomit shot. Renji got seen about his tummy, he has an abundance of normal bacteria in his tummy, so it's supposed to be there, he just has too much. Also they think he likely has a sensitive tummy, so we'll be switching him to a high quality (expensive) food once we wean him off of the bland diet next week. All in all today went well, Renji hopefully will be able to get his second round of vaccines sometime in the next two weeks and we'll get him microchipped then too. Lots of crazy going on here, but I think we are finally on the track to him being a healthy monster dog again.

Long day ahead.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day, in the AM I have shot appts for Taco (cat) & Aiko. In the afternoon I have an appt to bring Renji to get checked out. He's been having vomit & regurgitation issues. He was doing well on chicken and rice, then we tried to reintroduce dry food and he lost it all, back to chicken and rice, and this morning he threw that up. When I called the vet they canceled his vaccine appt and rescheduled him for a sick call. He has kept dinner down tonight but he's a little extra sleepy.

Poor Kitty.

you may not be able to tell but his bottom is all wet!
yesterday for lunch I had Tuna w/ avocado in yummy sauce (recipe soon to come) well the sauce consists of a mix of rice wine vinagar, soy sauce, and sesame seed oil, yummy but smelly. well after eating I had the bowl sitting next to me and the cat came and sat... in the bowl. Sauce all over his bum. poor guy. He was very unhappy, but even more unhappy when I had to wash his bum. oh wait it gets worse. after wash #1 bum is still icky looking, the oils are clinging to his fur. If it is still greasy by tomorrow he will get bath #2. poor kitty.

I think Taco is trying to tell me something

I always have a box laying around with things tossed in it for home. When I am out I often see things that make me thing "oh Dad really needs that" or "mom would love that"
Now it may just be a cat thing but of all the half empty boxes around the house (and lately do to my online shopping addiction there have been quite a few) Taco choses to lay in the one that is marked to go to Tucson.

even though he hated my moms dog (sorry mom) I mean my sister, Dedra.... I think taco just wants to escape this creature, who taunts him relentlessly.

who love's his little sister, even though he wont admit it?
who's the best at pretending to be asleep?

(playstation remote inserted for size reference)
i love my big hairy boy!

My little Lumpia

i dont think i ever shared but Aiko has had a lump growing on her back. i noticed it a few weeks ago, well we finally got into the vet today, the vets first reaction was x-rays, biopsy, expensive, we sat in the room with her feeling it and asking me when it showed up, how much bigger has it gotten, it obviously doesn't hurt her because you can move it and squeeze it without her so much a wincing. after we talked about it for a second, i said, "when she first got it i thought it was her microchip, our cat has one and i can feel his between his shoulders" but Aikos lump is on her side just behind her shoulder. not where a microchip should be. well the vet decided to  check with the microchip checker thing, well low and behold there we have a microchip, so the conclusion: Aiko's  body is very possibly rejecting her microchip. if the lump continues to grow we'll have to have it surgically removed, which will be no fun for any of us, so now we just have to hope that the lump stops growing, even better if it just went away.  At least it's not bothering her.
on a brighter note i got my old navy order today and all my new clothes fit! my pants have gone down a size!

Cat Mat

Taco has been so terribly patient the last few months with the puppy and all, so last week i decided to treat him and i got him a nice big wicker basket that he could curl up in and be safe from the mutt. Its perfect because he can hide down inside it and when Aiko approaches he pops out and gets her. He love's his basket. This week i decided to go one further and i crocheted him a little blanket/mat for his basket, I used the pattern for Beth's Little Star Afghan  and i did it through one skien of Moda Dea Vision in the Blue Moon color way (which is more purple than blue) topped with catnip and Taco loves it! Fantastic! now i need to find a pattern(s) for the Ravelympics well anyway here are some pictures of my creation. cat pictures will come eventually, maybe.

and the silly dog, every time i turn on the camera she comes running.

camera whore.
