4 months!

I've gotten really bad at doing these on time. Evelyn turned 4 months on the 14th.

At her 4 month Checkup on April 8 Evey weighed 12 lbs 15 oz, She is 25 inches long, and her head is 15 3/4 inches around. She took her shots like a champ and only cried briefly.

Evelyn Likes:
Her bumbo, sometimes.
Napping on Mom and Dad, sometimes.
Standing
Babbling
Being held
Story time

Evelyn Dislikes:
Naps, anywhere but in your arms.
The carseat.
When mommy is anywhere out of sight.

Dear Stink,
This month has been a rough one, maybe as rough as the first one. I think it's been a combination of a major growth spurt, and your shots, but you stopped sleeping for more than an hour at a time, you were eating constantly, and you have been constantly cranky any time after about noon. But we are at the end of that now, you started sleeping again this week. Your mood has improved, and you are happier, and more often. And you even like to go out to eat with us, you don't sleep the whole time anymore but you are able to keep yourself occupied, or are able to be kept happy by just us holding you and talking to you. I am pretty sure I can tell that you've grown just by looking at you, that's a first. I've never really seen your growth before, you've always looked the same because it all happened so slowly, but this last few weeks I think I can see it. Developmentally you have changed quite a bit too, you have gone from a baby that really doesn't do much to someone who I can interact with. I can talk and you babble back. I feel so blessed to have such a good baby, you make me so happy.
Love, Mommy

Adorable photos are my Motivation

I love these pictures.
I love how the sunlight lights up Evey's hair. I love how I am genuinely smiling.
I don't love how my body looks.
This is the first time I have really seen what I look like daily.
I am heaver than I have ever been, and at 4 months since Evey was born, I've lost only a very small percent of what I gained.
I am not happy with that.
These pictures are my motivation, I want to be happy and healthy for my baby.
So I need to keep pushing myself, for us.
I also need a hair cut.

I want to take photos with her and not be too embarrassed to put them on my facebook.
Maybe on the beach, when we get to Cali.
Motivation.
These are my before pictures, stay tuned.

Cloth Diaper Mommies!

Diaper Sale! Diaper Sale!
I have several friends who cloth diaper, and I think this is the quickest way I can spread the word CottonBabies.com is having a pretty good clearance sale on BumGenius diapers. HERE.
I haven't used BumGenius yet, but I ordered a couple because I really like using all in one diapers at night, it leaves less to fumble with in the dark, if I even need to change, which I lately haven't had to because the AIO I have seems to hold a lot too.

Ombre Painted Dresser (DIY)

When we found out we were having a baby I remembered a pin I'd seen on Pinterest (search Ombre Dresser, I can't find the original right now but when I do I'll update) and decided that's what I wanted to do with the dresser and nightstand we'd had for years and was currently sitting empty in our basement.

The only picture I have of the dresser before we made it pretty

For the ombre, what you do is pick a color swatch with enough colors to do one for each drawer, and go to your hardware store and get a sample can (about 5 oz) of each color. Paint each drawer on color. We went with purples and a gray background. We ended up using one sample can for each row of drawers and I think 4 sample cans of the gray for the main dresser.
FYI you cannot get a finish on your sample paint at Home Depot, you can only get it as a matte. We liked the way the matte looked and decided to not put a gloss or semi gloss top coat.

Being amateur furniture painters we weren't sure how to prep the wood, so we sanded off the existing finish, this seemed easer (and safer for me, being pregnant) than stripping it with chemicals

Once we had it sanded (which was a total pain in the ass) we painted, first we did the dresser completely because I wanted to see that I liked it before we did the big huge dresser.

and I liked it

with our color swatch

Really I think the mirror was the hardest part, to sand and to paint, it all had to be sanded by hand, and then the glass taped off, then painted then rotated so I could paint the part that was on the ground. It took forever. and it weighs a ton!

dry faster!

In the Nursery

I should have cleaned the mirror

no flash, a better representation of the colors.
And the nightstand

It took me forever to decide on drawer pulls, I wanted fancy ones and we just couldn't find any we agreed on. When we moved I wanted to be able to use the dresser right away so we decided to get some cheep-o ones at Ace Hardware for temporary use, and as it worked out, I totally love the way they look!
