We got lucky

Evelyn lucky in the daddy department. Paul is such a great dad. He is so attentive, and he has been from day one, there was no more "new parent" adjustment period for him than there was me.  Through my whole labor he was by my side, and as soon as Evelyn came out he rushed to be by her side, to be sure she was okay.

When he was finally given the opportunity (after she was fed) he held her with such care, and gave her so much love.

Upon arriving home, he would get up and take her after I fed her. Then he would watch cartoons, or play video games with her so I could sleep in a little bit longer.

A few days ago we started cloth diapering during the day. This is a trial and error thing for us. But he is very good at getting the diaper on, even though it doesn't fit.

He even asked if he could wear her in the Moby while making dinner the other night.

He is so great with her, and she loves him so much.

Even now that he has gone back to work, when he comes home he does the dishes, and then cuddles up with her (and the playstation) as I prepare dinner.  Or they nap like today.

Nap time

Happy Anniversary

I cant find the digital copies of the good pictures, and I'm too pregnant and lazy to scan the ones I have printed out, so this is what you get.

6 years ago, On November 23rd, Thanksgiving day, I married that guy.
Every day of the last six years has been an adventure.
I am so grateful that I found such a great, caring, understanding man, to put up with my shit.

I'm not good at mushy sappy words, so I'll just leave it at that.

Fathers Day

I know, almost everyone thinks they have the best dad in the world. I am one of those people.
I not only have a dad that loves me, who has always watched out for me, who (despite what I thought) really did always have my best interest at mind, but I have a cool dad, a fun dad, A dad that is also my friend.

I like to hang out with my dad. He's just a fun, cool guy. He's really silly and goofy, and really smart too. He taught me that the most important thing a girl can know is how to change a tire. He also taught me that my big brown eyes can get me anything I want. He showed me that no mater how smart I thought I was, I couldn't outsmart him, and although he sometimes didn't let me know at the time, he almost always knew when I was lying. I had silly lessons from my dad too, stuff you didn't know you needed to know, like My dad also showed me that when you are tying your own fishing flys you better have the hook facing away from you or you'll have to drive yourself to the hospital to have a hook removed from your forearm. In that same lesson I also learned that doctors in the city don't know how to remove a hook from your arm and you'll have to tell them how.

Growing up all my friends thought my parents were so cool, not the cool kind that gave you booze and let you be bad teenagers, but the cool kind that you respected. I think that my parents did this on purpose because my friends and I never had shenanigans at my house because no one wanted to piss them off, because they respected my parents.

In the last few years I think my dad and I have become even better friends, we are both adults now and we can talk about grown up stuff. Also he's a computer geek and if I ever have computer questions he's always just a phone-call away.  Dad is also real smart, I did not inherit this trait, but he's always willing to proof read my papers for school and let me know when I sound like an idiot, and when it's obvious I am making stuff up because I have no idea what I am talking about.

So here's to you dad, The best dad I ever had.

Have a lovely day, and remember to find me on Facebook!

Mom's Day!

Happy Mothers Day to my favorite mom, and my best friend. #mothersday

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
This is from when my mom visited me in Okinawa. It was the first time I had seen her in person in about 2 years. (Thanks to Skype, we would see each other regularly via the internets)
My mom is my best friend and I would be lost without her. We talk on the phone daily, often several times a day. Living a bajillion miles away from her is hard, but since we are stateside now I see her every few months. I'm totally not lying when I say she is my best friend, Oh, she's your mom you have to say that, No I don't. But she is, when something happens good or bad, the first person I want to call is her. When I hear a funny joke, or watch a good movie, the person I call to tell about it is my mom. When I want to cry because I left the milk in the car for 5 hours on an 80 degree day, I call my mom (and she laughs at me).

I love you mom.
