Throwback Thursday

2010 Okinawa, Japan

Super homesick for Okinawa this morning after looking at @smartin0309 's pictures #tbt #throwbackrhursday #okinawa

Shortly after Paul came back from Afghansitan (this week 3 years ago) we went on an adventure, and stumbled upon this beautiful beach up North the East coast of Okinawa.

Me Me Me

Jessica over at Adventures of an Airman's wife got the liebister blog award and opened her questions up to whomever wanted to answer them. Well I figured with so many new followers what better way to reintroduce myself than to answer her questions, because they are good questions. So 11 facts and 11 questions.

Facts:
1. I hate carrots so much I tell people I am allergic so I don't need to explain my childish hatred for them.
2. I would love to retire abroad.
3. I rarely wear more makeup than tinted moisturizer
4. I dont wear much jewelry, even rarely wear my wedding ring
5. I have a problem with craft supplies, I have quite a selection huge of yarn and fabric, but I don't knit or sew very often.
6. But I can knit, and very well I think
7. I don't like ketchup either.
8. I've recently started watching Downton Abby and I'm slightly obsessed with it.
9. I once had my ears gauged to 00, I've also had lots of piercings.
10. I have 6 tattoos, but often forget about two of them because they are on my back and I cant see them so I forget about them.
11. I'm a mac user, and even though I think that the samsung tablet may be better than the iPad (and cheeper) When it comes time for me to get a tablet, I'll get an iPad for compatibility.

Jessica's Questions:
1. If you could plan a weekend away, where would you go and what would you do? Assuming I don't have unlimited airfare, and I can't just go anywhere in the world, I would say a trip to Seattle would be cool. The only time I have ever been was before we moved to Okinawa and we stayed two nights there before we flew away. If I could go anywhere in the world, and it was a long weekend, I think Greece, or Italy. I love Japan, but I plan on moving back there, just going to visit would be cruel to my heart.

2. Favorite vacation you have been on? Summer vacations as a kid were awesome, I really miss going to Pinetop, Arizona every summer and doing crafts, walking in the woods, fishing, feeding the creatures from the porch.

3. Favorite animal? I'm a big fan of Elephants

4. Growing up who did you want to marry? Probably Patrick Swayze or Jordan Knight

5. If you could only dessert for a week what would you have? Tiramisu, white birthday cake, vanilla ice cream, cookie cake.

6. Favorite meal to cook at home? I used to love to cook, now not so much, but I like quick and easy so my vote is Mac & Cheese and hot dogs. I also like to cook French Onion Soup, but it's a huge production and takes FOREVER.

7. Would you rather go on an Alaskan cruise or a Caribbean cruise? Oh, that's a tough one. Both would be super awesome, I think Caribbean though, especially after I have spent the last 3 years living in the great white north, I am ready for some sun.

8. Favorite movie you could watch over and over? Three Amigos, no joke, I am actually watching it right now.

9. If you had to eat at one restaurant for the rest of your life what would it be? In America something mexican, in Japan, Sushi Zen or Yoshi Hachi.

10. Are you a momma's girl or daddy's girl? Really I think I am equally both, I went back and fourth growing up, but now I think both, maybe a little more mommas girl.

11. Favorite boy's name and Favorite girl's name? I could never decide on a boy name, thats why I am so glad I have a girl. Maybe Phillip or Bryce. For a girl maybe Violet, or Penelope, Olivia, Emma. I can't pick just one.

Google Reader is Quitting Me.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

To say I am frustrated would be an understatement.
A fellow blogger has shared that Google Reader will be closing its doors on July 1.
Lies! Lies!
nope not lies.
Maybe I'm just silly to think that RSS readers should stick around. I use mine all the time!
Before Google Reader I used Bloglines. Bloglines (i think that's what it was called) closed a few years ago, now GR is closing. SERIOUSLY GOOGLE! do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to move all of my 9,000 (maybe slight exaggeration) blogs I read into another reader?
So yet again, I have started the long arduous process of moving the blogs I read. I totally don't have time for this. I have a household to run! lol.
okay for reals though, I think bloglovin and I may become real friends, there's an app for that.
Yep Bloglovin' has an iPhone app. Google Reader doesn't, so Bloglovin is already better.
So Follow my blog with Bloglovin and I'll follow you back!

Evelyn: 12 weeks

My litte Peanut is 12 weeks, in just a week she'll be 3 whole months!

She is so beautiful I can't stand it

And getting so well at lifting her head

our scheduled nap time has not worked as well as planned

but that's okay

This week:
Evey has rolled from front to back and back to front.
She is using her hands quite a bit, and not just to stick in her mouth.
She giggles a whole bunch
Nap time has been failure almost every day

Another reason to hate winter

And to just hate Montana for that matter.

Tuesday I slipped in the ice and fell down the front stairs. But it gets worse. I had Evey with me, in her carseat, and I dropped her. The carseat tumbled down two stairs and into the snow.

It was horrifying. Watching her, strapped in her seat, fall out of my arms. She didn't cry right away, I flipped the seat upright and she looked at me and I think at this point she started to panic and started wailing, then I started crying. The first thing I did was call the doctor, the nurse I spoke to was so nice and understanding, she said that carseats are made to absorb impact and that as long as she didn't go head over heels down a whole flight of stairs then she will be okay. And she is, she more slid like a sled then tipped over when she hit the snow. She stopped crying and was back to smiles pretty quickly. The nurse said she is young and wont remember. I wish I could say the same for me. I wish I could forget, and I still feel horrible.

I was sort of hesitant to post this, but I want other new moms to know that shit happens. Not everyone drops the baby, but even the most careful moms can have accidents. I know I'm not the first mom to drop her baby, and I am just thankful that it happened with her in her carseat and not on our concrete floors inside the house.

incase you are wondering I am okay too, I landed pretty hard and my shoulders are really sore, but I'll survive.

Weather App

I'm a bit obsessed with the weather. Perhaps it's because I live somewhere with such miserable and unpredictable weather. Or maybe because it really influences how I feel for the day. Warm and sunny- happy; cold and overcast- bleh.
My obsession has led me to collect weather apps on my phone. I joke that I have so many because if I don't like one forecast I can just check a different app. This isn't too far from the truth. If one forecast makes me sad I can look for a better one, one that can give me hope for a warmer future. Haha, so I collect weather apps.
Well one of my favorites (and a free app) is AccuWeather it took me a bit to figure out all the features but its got some cool add-ons that other apps don't have.

Untitled
Pretty typical weather, sunrise, sunset, wind and stuff.

Untitled
forecast, But look at wednesday See that !

Untitled
When I click on the ! it gives me the weather warning. Cool!

Untitled
I can also see all these other cool forecastey things

Untitled
Beachgoing sucks in Montana right now. Poor beaches, being all left alone.

Untitled

I really like this app, and highly recommend it to people with unpredictable weather. It changes quite frequently here and this app is usually pretty spot on with the forecasts.

This review is my own, I just wanted to share, AccuWeather doesn't even know I exist.

I need some change.

I've been in a bit of a funk, a blogging funk and a life funk. Since having a baby I don't do much, I don't get out much, and honestly? I don't even get dressed much. Yoga pants and a nursing tank top is not dressed. I am still only about 10 pounds below my weight when I had Evey, and she was 8 of those pounds, so nothing fits, but I can't justify spending money on clothes that I won't wear for very long, because I am going to loose the weight! March is going to be a revamp of all things me.

I am going to do a mile a day in March. On the treadmill, on the sidewalk, at the mall, wherever I can get my mile I will do it.

how bad ass are these pants?

I am going to get dressed almost every day. Shower, dressed, even do my hair and sometimes maybe even makeup! I say almost every day, because I reserve the right to have a sweatpants day if I am up all night with the baby and just don't want to wear pants. I guess this means I need to find my only pants that fit.

I am going to blog at least once a week about something non-baby related. I love writing about Evey, because she is really the focus of my life now, but I don't want to be just another mom blogger, I want more, I want readers to get more from me.

I am going to try to get to a workout class at the YMCA with the other Marine wife here at least once. It's still hard for me to be away from Evey because I am breast feeding on demand, and I hate pumping.  But I am determined to do it at least once.

I am going to finish unpacking! Really I think we have two boxes left, and one is just photos so I may not unpack that one. We do however need to build the crib, so we can store stuff under it, and then I need to finish sorting through my give-away stuff. I think this is part of my funk, I am just so overwhelmed with the clutter right now.

So those are my March goals. What do you hope to accomplish in the last month of winter? First day of spring is March 20th!

Evelyn: 11 weeks

This week Evey is 11 weeks. We started this week out rough, Daddy was sick last week so it was my turn to be sick this week, then Monday Paul went to SLC for the week for training, and monday night poor little Evey got sick.

Talking to herself in the mirror.

She tuckered herself out.

Monday during the day she was all smiles and giggles, but towards the end of the day, cranky set in, and fussy soon followed.
Shortly before I discovered her fever she fell asleep in my lap.

She is so cranky tonight. I think just overly tired. She had two or three 10-20 min naps today. Usually has that plus one that's 2-3 hours. Finally she nursed herself to sleep.  Now I'm afraid to move.

She was never inconsolable, so I wasn't too terribly worried, but I gave her some Tylenol and a few hours later her fever came back, so I was a little worried. After the second dose her fever never came back. It also never got above 99.7, but it was 11pm, Paul was gone, our doctor is in Helena, and the internet was telling me that with her being under 3 months her fever hit 100.4 it warranted calling the doctor ASAP or taking her in.
She slept through the night, but I didn't, I spent most of the night checking her temp every couple of hours.

After running a fever for most of the night, we are all smiles today.

But she woke up the next morning all smiles, and all was right in the world.

Then we discovered the magic of nap time, and mommy got some housework done. While Renji babysat.

We are learning to use our hands too!

 Happy 11 week birthday!

The official 11 weeks shot!

Getting so good at lifting her head!

We are also cloth 100% of the time we are home, we only use paper diapers when we leave the house. I was a little worried about cloth overnight, but she's done great and only peed through one diaper, it was in my bed too, yay!

This week Evey:
Had her first fever (besides the one after shots, but I don't count that)
Found her hands
Started grabbing things
Now has a nap time.

Trying to get her smile. I got this instead.
