Lucy Bag !! completion

i finally finished Jen's bag, it only took me two months, i hope it doesnt take that long for me to get it into the mail, that would make me a shitty friend.i made it bigger than the original, some how the straps seem shorter, but i think the will strech with use, i also made the straps wider to compensate for the bag being bigger.

note the size of this behemoth of a bag before felting. HUGENESS!

George Carlin

i have recently formed a tight bond with George Carlin, as he is the narrator of the Thomas the Tank Engine, and the little girl i babysit is in love with Thomas. I just came to this notion yesterday to be precise. and i asked myself. is George still alive? after some thought, i agreed with myself that he was in fact still alive. sort of morbid that i had that thought process the day before his actual passing.
so in memoriam:

Shit
Piss
Fuck
Cunt
Cocksucker
Motherfucker
Tits
Fart
Turd
Twat

even though this was way before my time, i still have much respect for George Carlin, he was a great man.

we'll miss you George

Best Day!

Today Paul and i had one of the best days we've had since we got here on the island.
unfortunately i have no pictures because today included a bathing suit and, well, no way there will be pictures of me in a swim suit for at least a few months. anyway on to a great day.
it started with me sleeping in a little, then Buffalo Paul woke me up (he gets said name for him stomping around the house like a buffalo). i finally rose from bed about 930 had some bed snuggles with the doggie and kitty. then we decided to take the plunge, literally, we went down to Foster and headed into Tsunami Scuba. currently we dont have the time to take actual Suba padi lessons, but we do have time to go to the beach, so we decided to try snorkeling. about half an hour and quite a bit of money later we walked out with top of the line flippers, goggles, snorkels and booties. Paul's are blue and mine are Black.  we drove over to Sunabe Seawall and headed in, the first time out i was terrified the waves were rough and choppy and where we were was extremely shallow, but it looked real neat. after about 5 min of me loosing my cool we headed back to the shore, i was throwing in the towel. we got in the car and Paul talked me into to try another place, so i pulled out our tide book with the dive spots and looking at pictures realized while we were at the seawall we wernt in the right place. we were further north, at a place called the Junkyard. we turned back found another parking spot and went walked over to the correct place. i was stoked. got our goggles & booties on and headed down the steps to the water.  once we got to the correct place it was so much easier. it was deeper, we could see better, the water seemed less choppy, it was so much better. once we got in we headed for the coral, we saw blue fish, black fish, yellow fish, multi colored fish, red coral, lime green coral and blue coral, it was so cool! i cant wait to go again. i really want to go right now but i am exhausted. we headed back to the beach because Paul was having goggle issues, and once they were corrected we headed back out. i got a little carried away going down the seawall stepps and i biffed it.  (okay so i lied about the no picture thing, i'll take this one to show you my clumsiness)
not too bad but i for my first time snorkeling in over 10 years i think thats pretty good.
we had so much fun, i loved every second of it. i can't wait to get scuba certified. soon. 3 months. soon!

ps the doggie didnt want to be forgotten so she posed for the picture

GOOGLE IS EVIL

i swear every time something goes wrong and i google it the first things that pop up are terrible, example one: my cat has a sore on his face, google tells me that its feline leukemia! damnit my cats been vaccinated and he isnt in contact with other cats so its not FIV but i am still sitting her on the verge of an anxiety attack. example two: dog got a rash, google says dog has horrible disease and is going to die, okay maybe not but its still nerve wracking.  i feel like crap i've now got to take the cat to the vet to rule out any illness though i am pretty sure the dog bit him. i am so freaking out right now. ugh i hate anxiety!

Happy BIrthday Paul

Today is Pauls Birthday and we were looking for somewhere nice to go that we havnt tried yet, and Paul wanted some Beef Sashimi, so we ended up at Yoshihachi, now i've heard good and bad things about Yoshihachi everything from very americanized, to best sushi on the island, its true that when you walk in you notice things like the waitstaff speaks broken english, they have english menu's and the condiments are labeled in english at the table, some may think americanized is a negative aspect, but me not so much, if they want to cater to the americans, and make it easier for those of us who are still learning the ins and outs of Okinawa, what is wrong with that?
We were actually lucky enough to sit at the bar and watch Mr. Yoshi Maekewa himself make some of our dishes. we had a tuna roll set that came with 8 pieces of sushi, an Alaskan Roll (salmon, onion, and cream cheese), Beef Sashimi (yum!), a softshell crab roll,  and the final most frightening thing of all Blowfish- FUGU- a very tasty but dangerous fish to eat. while it is yet unknown to me if this is the BEST on the island it was really good for the money we paid.
after dinner we came home and started a movie but decided bed time sounded much more appealing, so here i lay in bed writing about my day falling asleep at the keys. Overall i think Paul had a good birthday. i got him a hand held drill, a remote for the PS3 and a Alton Brown Cook book, okay that last one was sort of for me. but we had fun, and thats what is most important, i think this weekend we are going to try for snorkeling. and i am sitting for Stacy while she has her Triathalon on Sunday. but thats about all my excitement this week.

P.S. please check out the links if you are my family and visiting here in the next three years,(MOM) because i will be taking you to this place, it was that great!

Gyms on the Island

This week they are adding AC to the cardio room at my gym on Courtney. so i am out a gym, well a cardio room until next week.
So i started exploring the gyms, went to Risner on Saturday, wasnt very clean, the juice bar was neat, didnt try it but the idea is cool, not sure if the juices are really healthy or not. but i dont know if i will ever go there again, the cardio/weight room was hot and dingy, i expected it to be super nice and state of the art since it was AF every AF gym ive ever been to has been amazing. i wanted to shower before i even worked out.

yesterday i checked out Hansen, not so bad, it was all free weights and cardio, the cardio stuff was okay, still not as nice as Courtney, but it was clean, i dont do free weighs though so i was a little disappointed, and it was full of those 'mirror bunnies' that so many of you spoke of.

perhaps i am biased but i think i will stick to Courtney, it may not have a juice bar, or an attached pool but its clean, cleaner than the two closest choices for me.

fitness

i am trying to loose about 25 pounds (maybe more we'll see once i get to a healty BMI) i am 5'5''ish 169.2 26 years old. currently my workout routine is :

5 days a week - (working toward 6)

treadmill 15.0 incline 2.8-3.5 mph for 30 to 45 min, the calorie count on the treadmill says i burn about 808 cals an hour at 3.5 (today i burned 570 for 45 min going between 2.8-3.5)

3-4 days a week i do nautilus training, focusing mainly on my legs and mid section for about 20 min at the max weight i can handle 50ish reps each machine

i also was walking my dog about 3-4 miles a day at about 2 miles an hour (she's a small dog so i cant exactly run with her) but this is on hold while she recovers from surgery, i will still try to walk but i doubt it will be this much.

any suggestions, does this sound like a good routine?

i've also heard that muscle burns fat, but building muscle under fat just makes the fat stick out more, so when i do nautilus training weights on my midsection am i building muscle that will help me burn more fat, or should i just wait to work my muscles in that section until i am no longer toting a spare tire?

eta- i also eat about 1500-1700 calories a day and am sedimentary with the exception of my workouts
